Bronze Magazine
Journalist Intern
Before becoming an intern for Bronze Magazine, I was not graced by the prominent publication created to uplift women that look like me and others. When I applied for the position, I decided to scan the website and understand how it is organized. I was impressed and it was marvelous to see women and a few men of color prosper beyond the societal image. I was determined to join the team and when I had an interview with the founder and editor of Bronze Magazine, Shawn Stuldivant, it felt like I was talking to a person I have known for years. Due to our chemistry and conversation, I was offered a position right away. I was to interview assigned to interview influencers, chefs, coaches, entrepreneurs, or more biweekly and conduct research on the said person before the interview. After I write a draft of said interview, transcribe it, with an introduction of the person at the beginning. Also, I am to complete edits, take notes, and more before it is published. In April, I officially became part of the team conducting my first interview with Afro-Brazilian Chef Emme Collins. I admit I was nervous at first, but I am looking forward to the future and my progression in such a field. With my career path set in this industry, journalism, I cannot wait for the endeavors I will learn as my internship progresses.
